Congratulations to the new Heavyweight Australian Chap – Wayne Osborne, and to Barry Cole for 2^nd in the Middleweights – allowing Ben Lazzar to keep that title at home.

Congratulations to another NZer, Don McKenzie – but we haven’t heard the placing yet.

Here is there final day report:

Hi All from Aussie

Very frustrating day today with only light to nothing breeze. We arrived very early at the track this morning to find an ambulance waiting for a flying doctor to turn up with a sick patient so couldn’t get onto the airport straight away. As soon as the plane left Barry and I were out practising before anyone else arrived and proved very valuable training. We had one very light!!! race with 5.5 sails and Barry won his division with Ben second and I was second behind Don from the Bay Club in my division. Then the breeze dropped off and we waited around in 30+ degrees for the breeze to come back but never eventuated so event called at about 1.30 as racing was scheduled to finish at 2.00 anyway. Prize giving was held and we packed up all our gear and headed back to Horsham for a cool beer and swim in the pool.

All in all great event and we have learnt heaps. Unfortunately the breeze hasn’t arrived for this event but we have completed 11 races at a very nice venue. the Aussies have been really great hosts to us and we hope to see some of them in NZ soon.

Up at 4am in the morning for 3.5 hour drive back to Melbourne and fly out at 11.00am.

Nearly Forgot to mention: Wayne is now the current Australian Champ!!!! in heavyweights and Barry finished second overall in the middleweights. Barry was really hoping for more races today as he only finished about 4 points behind ben and was sailing very fast today.
