The weather played its part, the Rosies got up to their normal tricks
but did a great job with making sure the social side ticked over
without a hiccup, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves on and off the
beach. So thanks for making this one the trips of the year and
congratulations to all the sailors, everyone's a winner with this trip.
Dave from the camp has thanked us for our support and welcomes us back.
I left a bottle of wine for him and he's great to work with so hopefully
he will keep the lease on the camp for a while. I have booked everything
for 18/19/ 20/ 21 November which suits the tides (same as this time) and
those traveling after Worlds.
The north area of Tokerau Beach is fantastic, certainly wider and
smoother then where we set up and southern end. The benefit of our
current set up is the ramp, grass set up area and access which is
lacking further up but maybe we need to get starters/scorers/spectators
further up to make the most of this northern area, as long as the stream
doesn't come back. Something to consider as this area would allow
windward/leeward courses plus faster sailing, ..... if you want faster
sailing!
I would also be keen to get any feedback on areas of improvement. I have
stuck to the same formula for a few trips now, slightly reduced number
of races in favour of more free sailing time to finish of each day,
relays only on lighter wind days, and tried to let the new ones do their
own thing a bit while still being part of the group.
Let me know your thoughts for constructive improvements.
Hope all got home ok, dodged tsunamis, and missed the accident on the
Brynderwyn Hill.
See you all next event.
regards
Russell
